HANNELORE BARON (German/American,1926 - 1987) Original Mixed Media Collage

$2,500.00

Hannelore Baron original mixed media collage with paper, watercolor and ink. Signed in pencil. Sight measurement of 7.5 x 10.5 inches, framed in an 18x20 inch frame. Re-matted using archival materials, acid free board and using the original frame. The original cardboard backer has been placed on the other side of the acid free board, to maintain the information it contains but separated from the artwork. Gallery stamp of “CROQUIS Gallery, 18 West 55 Street, New York”. On the opposite side of the cardboard (see pics) has the artist’s address crossed out, but enough of the address can be made out to ascertain that it states “Riverdale Street”, where Baron lived from 1963 to 1970. Based on this information, the piece likely dates around 1963, given the address and the fact that the piece was exhibited at Croquis Gallery (see detailed history at hannelorebaron.net). The cardboard also possibly contains the title of the piece “Beach Scene”, and has additional notes that state “Baron #5, $35 - collage, 7 - frame”. An amazing piece, ready to hang.
