Beautiful small oil on wood by Belgian artist Georges Antoine Van Zevenberghen titled “Baigneuse a la Fontaine” and dated 1943. Signed in the lower right, with additional information attached via label on the back of the board. Framed behind glass, the painting has not been inspected out of the frame. The painting measures approximately 5.5 x 7 inches, and framed measures approximately 8 x 9.5 inches. The frame shows some wear with chips in a few places, but appears to be the original gilt frame. A stunning impressionistic piece that has an art nouveau feel to it.

George Van Zevenberghen was a member of the artistic movement Le Labeur, founded in 1898, and one of the most talented of the first generation of Belgian Impressionists. He was born in Molenbeek, at whose Academy he studied; he then trained at the Academy in Brussels where he exhibited frequently and later worked in Tournai.
